Psalm
8:4 “What is man?” God’s Word gives us the only accurate description of
Mankind, which fits all the evidence. Divine origin, God-like, spiritual,
inventive, creative, morally-aware, free-willed, and separate from Nature yet
linked physically and materially . . . yet sinful and fallen, subject to decay
and degeneration.
Thousands
of studies are gradually coming to a similar conclusion, though housed in
different words.
Deuteronomy
23:20 Unto a stranger thou may lend
upon usury;
but unto thy brother thou shalt not lend upon usury:
that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all that thou set thine hand to in the
land whither thou go to possess it.
Exorbitant
interest rates have financially crippled and destroyed thousands of people.
Psalms
19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shews
his
handywork.
Many
astronomers and cosmologists are now admitting that the shape and form of the
universe and its billions of parts are beyond computer simulations. Just one
minute area, the balancing of planets in a solar system, is statistically
impossible – to get the weight to spin ratio perfectly balanced, the distance
from the planet and sun to orbit speed, the weight of the whole system, the spin
and size of the sun, the fact that one planet is exactly the right distance from
the sun and covered in water, the thickness of the atmosphere, and all the other
factors just right . . . that these things could have happened by chance is out
of the question.
Psalms
19:6 His
going
forth
is from the end of the heaven, and his
circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.
This
verse describes the path of the sun through every sign of the zodiac (the
original zodiac, not the corrupted astrologer’s version of today). The whole
precession takes thousands of years.
Modern
astronomers have discovered the precession of the equinoxes and rediscovered
calculations made by the Egyptians about 3,500 years ago. That the sun moves so
accurately through such a long series of star groups has been a modern day
marvel – but the Psalmist knew about it long ago.
Luke
17:34-36. Jesus said when He returns, some people will be asleep, while other
people will be up and working. This implies day and night at the same time,
which implies a spherical planet.
While
many ancient civilizations had some knowledge of the curvature of the Earth, it
was not until the first photographs from space came through that the world
realized how beautiful the ‘blue marble’ of Earth really was. Flat-earthers
have no basis on which to continue in their wrong beliefs. Columbus was right.
Genesis
1:12 And the earth brought forth
grass, and herb yielding seed
after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed
was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
It
is now accepted by science that seeds contain the information from which a new
plant may grow. Information is the key to all life, and a new branch of study
has now emerged, which examines how so much information can be stored in DNA and
other structures. It is also becoming apparent that information never appears
without some external input from an intelligent designer.
Psalm
22:29 “None can keep alive his own soul”.
Despite
every effort, no human has been able to prolong life indefinitely. Even
cryogenics is doomed because thawing the frozen bodies will not ensure
indefinite life on recovery – even if such a thing was possible.
Psalm
49:17 “His glory shall not descend after him”
It
has been the desire by many kings and wealthy rulers to take with them to the
‘next life’ all the material things they valued in this life. They were
often buried surrounded by great wealth.
Geologists
are constantly digging up the material things which kings and wealthy rulers
failed to take with them to the ‘next life’.
Genesis
3:15 And I will put enmity between
thee and the woman, and between thy seed
and her seed;
it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
The
woman has a “seed” too – the ovum, which must be fertilized before
conception can occur. Although the above verse means primarily ‘her issue’
or ‘progeny’, and is not a ‘scientific’ statement, it can also be taken,
at a stretch, to mean that the woman has something to contribute.
Psalms
50:21 “These things hast thou
done, and I kept silence; thou thought that I was altogether
such
an one
as thyself . . .”
Most
people, who have not accepted the Bible as their source of truth, imagine God as
all sorts of things. To some, God is Santa Claus, or a money machine, or a
carnal god, or a woman, or something very much like themselves.
Anthropologists
often insist that the whole idea of religion arose from primitive man’s desire
to attribute personalities on Nature’s phenomena. Man has indeed made a
‘god’ for himself, but the Bible said this was what Man would do.
Psalms
139:2 Thou knowest my
downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my
thought
afar off.
God
can hear us and see us anywhere on Earth.
With
the invention of the Internet, cell phones, digital recorders and so on, it has
become possible to observe and talk to people anywhere on Earth from anywhere on
Earth (or in space.)
Psalms
139:12 Yea, the darkness
hides not from thee; but the night shines as the day: the darkness
and the light
are both alike to thee.
Modern
inventions include ‘night-sight’ cameras, which use infrared or digitally
enhance small amounts of light. Sonar is able to penetrate dark water. Sonics is
now able to give a clear picture of an unborn child. Cat scans can reveal
everything inside the body. X-rays can reveal all the bones. Radioactive
scanning can reveal the organs.
Psalm
139:15,16. The Bible describes the skilful integration of the skeleton with the
flesh of the human body as it is formed in the womb.
Modern
inventions are still discovering the fantastic complexity and orderly sequence
with which a human body forms from the fertilized cell through to the
specialization of stem cells, to the formation of organs and bone, through to
the final product : a baby ready to be born.
Prob.23:4
“Labour not to be rich”. There are many passages in the Bible about wealth.
It can be a great blessing, and there is nothing wrong with being wealthy, but
it brings with it many temptations. God promises to supply all our needs when we
put Him first, so labouring just for wealth is a form of idolatry.
Many
wealthy people have confessed that their wealth did not bring them happiness –
though it certainly gave them access to many good things. The futility of
working just to be rich has left a trail of suicide, depression, bankruptcy,
broken families, broken lives, and ruined communities. In their desperation to
gather money, people have put God last and paid the price.
Proverbs
25:16 Hast thou found honey?
eat so much as is sufficient for thee, lest thou be filled therewith, and vomit
it.
Too
much of a good thing can be bad for you. This proverb warns against over
indulgence, in anything. Gluttony leads to obesity and many medical
problems, as well as premature death.
Dieticians
warn us constantly about reducing our food intake. We are warned repeatedly on
TV and radio about the dangers of overdosing on vitamins, or some other
‘fad’ food.
Proverbs
30:25 The ants
are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer;
For
centuries people had no idea how such tiny creatures as ants and other insects
could do so many things. Take the ant for example: it walks, it responds to heat
or cold, it knows how to build a nest, collect food, feed itself, reproduce,
store eggs and hundreds of other skills. With today’s technology it has been
discovered that insects have brains. Packed into a pinprick of
nerves are the instructions for thousands of different skills – including
preparing food for the winter. No modern technology comes even close to
constructing a machine as versatile as an ant, yet God has created countless
billions of them.
Proverbs
30:27 The locusts
have no king, yet go they forth all of them by bands;
It
still remains, to Science, a partial mystery as to how insects fly. The
hydraulics involved are incredible. The power output from such small muscles is
amazing. The fact that there are millions of locusts, all flying about together,
is a dazzling display of aeronautics on the ultra-miniature scale.
Ecclesiastes
1:7 All the rivers
run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from whence
the rivers
come,
thither they return again.
The
hydrologic cycle was discovered in modern times. The rivers drain into the sea,
evapotranspiration carries the clean, fresh water upwards and drops it on the
hills again. Impurities are left behind in the sea, along with salts.
Ecclesiastes
3:11 He hath made every thing beautiful
in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find
out the work that God makes from the beginning to the end.
This
expression “sets the world in their heart” refers to the deep spiritual
longing which most people have from time to time. God has placed this longing in
our hearts to give us a sense of being made for more than just material
pleasure. Many philosophers and thinkers have admitted that they ‘knew they
were put on Earth for some higher purpose’, and many evolutionists have
confessed that, despite all they believe, they know they are not merely advanced
animals, but something greater.
Ecc.8:8
“There is no man that has power over the spirit to retain the spirit, neither
has he power in the day of death . . .” In this verse “spirit” means
“breath”. In other words, no human can prevent the final expiration of
breath at the moment of death.
Some
machines can keep a person physically alive for weeks or even years, but when
brain death occurs it is impossible to restore that person to health or
consciousness.
Ecc.9:5
“the dead know not anything”.
When
brain cells die after death, no “thinking” or awareness can occur. Dead
people literally “know” nothing.
Daniel
chapter 2 describes a succession of 5 empires or national entities.
Historians
have confirmed that the succession of empires predicted in Daniel 2 followed one
another exactly as predicted. Hundreds of years before it ever arose, Daniel
foresaw the rise and fall of Assyria, Medo-Persia with Elam, Greece, Rome –
Western and Eastern, European nations.
Daniel
chapter 9 describes the coming, work, death and aftermath of the Messiah. Daniel
gives the number of years before the Messiah comes, the length of His ministry,
and the coming invasion of the Roman power to destroy the city of Jerusalem and
the Temple.
Historians
have detailed every step in the predictions of Daniel 9, all fulfilled exactly
as foretold.
Matthew
7:16 Ye shall know them by their
fruits. Do
men
gather
grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
Because
of the set laws of genetics, every plant produces copies of itself and nothing
but that.
Matthew
10:30 But the very
hairs
of your head are all numbered.
Human
hair comes from follicles, which produce three kinds of hair. The ‘baby
hairs’ are followed by a second crop, and finally by a third crop. Each type
of hair grows in a different place on the body, at different times. We always
have exactly the same number of follicles from birth to death, while the hairs
alter. This means that every person has a finite and set number of follicles –
all numbered.
Matthew
24:35 Heaven
and earth
shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
After
2000 years the words of Jesus are still with us. They have never been improved
on, altered, or modified to keep up with the changing times.
Luke
22:44 And being in an agony he
prayed more earnestly: and his
sweat
was
as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
Medically
speaking, it is possible, under extreme conditions, to lose blood through the
skin.
1
Corinthians 15:39 All flesh
is not the same flesh:
but there is one
kind of flesh
of men, another flesh
of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds.
Despite
sometimes illusory external appearances, Nature is divided into many different
distinct and separate groups. If Evolution was true, we would find a general
merging of all living things, since every living thing is supposed to be
related, and an extension of everything else) But we find that God has created
distinct and separate groups, or ‘species’ which never interbreed.
1
Corinthians 15:19 If in this life
only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most
miserable.
Paul’s
perfect logic. As a master logician, Paul expresses both the skeptic’s and the
Christian’s point of view. Taken another step, we can say that if being a
Christian is an act of futility, we do at least for the present time, have a
great life, full of meaning and purpose, whereas, if we are wrong, then at least
for this short time we had something to live for. If we are right, then we have
all the immense wonders of God’s kingdom to look forward to.
Isaiah
51:6, Psalm 102:25,26 and Heb.1:11 all indicate that the Earth is wearing out.
Scientists
have repeatedly warned us of dwindling fossil fuel supplies, increasing demands
on food production, increasing populations, diseases and so on, rising sea
levels, depletion of the ozone and a host of other things. As well as all this
there is the depletion of soils due to erosion and irrigation, deforestation,
daily extinction of plant or animal species and a wide range of other
‘natural’ indicators all point to the same thing – the Earth is running
down. It cannot keep going like this indefinitely.
Genesis
1:27 So God created man in his own
image, in the image of God created he him; male
and female
created he them.
One
of the greatest mysteries for the evolutionist to solve is the appearance of the
sexes. Since one cannot survive without the other, the poor evolutionist must
come up with a theory to explain how all the complicated mechanisms arose for
insects, birds, mammals, fish and so on, (reproductive organs, gestation, the
womb, eggs, mammary glands, milk production, parental feeding, growth stages
from conception through to mature adult, etc, etc) and all without a mistake –
because that would have meant extinction.
Exodus
3:8 And I am come down to deliver
them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land
unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the
place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites,
and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.
Many
skeptics made much of the fact that nothing could be found to prove the
existence of the Hittites – until about 100 years ago, when archaeologists
(1906, Hugo Winkler) discovered a huge library of 10,000 clay tablets which
completely documented the Hittite empire. We now know that at its height, the
Hittite civilization rivaled Egypt and Assyria in its glory and power.
Leviticus
12:3 And in the eighth
day
the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.
Medical
science has discovered that eight days after a baby is born, a ‘coagulating
factor’ called prothrombin is at its highest. Of all the days in a person’s
entire life, the eighth day is the best day for circumcision because that is
when the human immune system is at its peak – which would guard against
infection and help to heal the cut quickly.
Genesis
1:24 And God said, Let the earth
bring forth the living creature after
his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after
his kind: and it was so.
Many
evolutionists refer to the fossil record to prove that species have, over
millions of years, gradually changed into new species. But the fossil record
actually testifies to the sudden appearance of species, and contains no
transitional forms.
Genesis
3:20 And Adam called his wife’s
name Eve; because she was the mother
of all
living.
Acts
17:26 And hath made of one
(blood)
all
nations of men for to dwell on all
the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the
bounds of their habitation;
In
the first of these two verses we are told that all people on Earth come from one
woman, and in the second we are told that all nations come from “one”.
Some
findings released a few years ago suggested that, because mitochondria, which is
found in and inherited from the woman’s cells, is so similar in so many
people, it is likely that all people on earth come from one woman.
“Researchers
suggest that virtually all modern men are closely related genetically and share
genes with one male ancestor, dubbed ‘Y-chromosome Adam’. We are finding
that humans have very very shallow genetic roots which go back very recently to
one ancestor . . . that indicates that there was an origin in a specific
location on the globe, and that it spread from there” (U.S. News and World
Report, Dec.4 1995)
Leviticus
11:6 And the hare, because he chews
the cud,
but divides not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.
Much
was made of this verse by some skeptics, because it was not generally known that
hares chew the cud. But eventually it was discovered that the hare eats its own
droppings and thus released the predigested nutrition – a form of chewing the
cud.
Psalm
104 refers to the fact that God “stretched out” the heavens like a curtain.
One
of the current theories about the universe is that it is expanding. This means
that as the objects in space move away from each other, space itself is
increasing between the objects. A suitable illustration of this would be a
curtain being pulled apart on its runners.
Gen.1:14
and Psalm 104:19 tell us that the sun, moon and stars are for “signs and
seasons”.
For
thousands of years people have used the exact movement of the moon and
constellations (or single stars) as guides to help them travel, plant and live
in a regulated way.
A
year is the time it takes the Earth to orbit the sun once, (365 days)
A
month is the time it takes for the moon to repeat a whole cycle (30 days)
A
day is the time it takes the Earth to turn once (24 hours)
A
week is not related to any celestial movements. It was the time God took to
create the heavens and the Earth. Weeks relate to Creation. (7 days)
There are many more verifications from Science of the accuracy of the Bible. The above is a sampling of evidence. You may like to add more.
